LAVENDER – Lavendula augustifolia

A popular garden shrub, renowned for its colour and aroma.  The species Lavendula augustifolia only is used medicinally. 

Lavendaer contains a volatile oil which has very low toxicity and significant antiseptic and anti-bacterial actions.  It helps reduce pain and alleviates nervous excitability 

Like many herbs with a high volatile oil content, lavender soothes indigestion and colic and relieves wind and bloating.  It can relieve sleeplessness, irritability, headaches and migraines and can help alleviate depression. 

The oil is an invaluable first aid remedy, strongly antiseptic, it can help heal burns, wounds and sores.  external use only.
